National NAIDOC Week has arrived 🥳 Celebrate, connect and learn at one of the many community events being held across the Riverland, Murraylands and Limestone Coast 🖤💛❤️ 🖤🤍💚💙 The 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week marks a major milestone in its history and recognises the past achievements of Aboriginal people. This year's theme The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy also captures a hopefulness and vision for the future, built on the legacy of ancestors. How will you celebrate NAIDOC Week? Here's some suggestions: 📍 Attached are the programs for NAIDOC Week activities in the Riverland, Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier – be part of all or any of the activities 💬 Take time to connect with Aboriginal people in your life and ask them about NAIDOC Week and what it means to them 📺 Make an effort to learn! Looking for a good wine that's also good for your community? 🍇🍷 The 2018 Homeless Grapes Project Cabernet Sauvignon was produced with surplus Coonawarra grapes that didn’t have a home, but Vinomofo worked with vignerons, wineries and the community to use the fruit to make a unique drop to raise funds for ac.care. Staff from our homelessness team volunteered their time to pick the grapes, Coonawarra wineries pitched in with the wine making process and now all proceeds from sales of the wine (currently on sale for $14 per bottle) are donated to ac.care to support services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Limestone Coast. It's Mabo Day and we are joining the celebration of a great Australian who played a key role in challenging the nation's legal system. Eddie Koiki Mabo fought for recognition of the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional owners of their land. His achievements rightly see him recognised as a huge influence on Australia today. But we still have a long way to go to "close the gap" and improve the lives of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week 2025 (May 27-June 3), which invites all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. At a time when Australia faces uncertainty in its reconciliation journey, this theme calls on all Australians to step forward together. The 2025 theme artwork created by Kalkadoon woman Bree Buttenshaw, native plants − which are known for regenerating after fire and thriving through adversity − symbolise our collective strength and the possibilities of renewal. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together. Australia’s history of reconciliation is not a linear one, we have made great strides and experienced disappointing setbacks. Twenty-five years ago, Corroboree 2000 brought together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous leaders in a historic call for reconciliation. ac.care is a non-government organisation (NGO) with charitable status, created by country people for country people. The organisation started in 1986 because there was no teenage foster care service in Mount Gambier, South Australia.
We have a focus on early intervention and prevention services and our mission is for all country people to have a safe home, enough money to live on and strong, positive relationships. Our core activities include the recruitment and support of foster carers, supports for people experiencing homelessness, Aboriginal services, family relationships, counselling, financial inclusion and community adult education.

Your donation will be used to assist children, families and individuals in the Limestone Coast, Murraylands or Riverland.
While many of our core services are funded by government, we deliver other initiatives from our own fundraising to provide further support for vulnerable people.
Our diverse team is uniquely placed to support people when they need your help and can ensure donated funds assist country South Australians to overcome crises and build hope for a better future.
