About the role

ac.care is seeking a Financial Capability Worker (FCW) to support individuals to build long-term money management skills and financial resilience through education and coaching, advocacy and referrals.

The FCW will also triage incoming referrals to assess clients’ immediate financial and personal risks, identify goals and provide case management to support positive outcomes.

As part of this you will:

  • Provide basic financial capability support to individuals and families, including assistance with budgeting, money management, and understanding bills and expenses
  • Support clients to develop practical financial skills, such as tracking income and expenses, prioritising bills, and setting financial goals
  • Assist clients to access financial information and resources, including concessions, hardship programs, and community supports
  • Support clients to engage with external services (e.g. utilities, housing providers, Centrelink, community services) through referrals and supported advocacy
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records, case notes, and data in line with organisational and funding requirements
  • Work within clearly defined policies, procedures, and professional boundaries, seeking guidance when issues are complex or outside role scope
  • Identify and escalate risk factors (e.g. financial stress, vulnerability, safeguarding concerns) to senior staff in accordance with procedures
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training to support service quality and professional development

Special Conditions:

  • Current SA driver’s licence ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent.
  • Current Satisfactory Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain in accordance with ac.care policy.
  • Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain in accordance with ac.care policy.
  • Child Safe Environment Certificate or willingness to obtain in accordance with ac.care policy.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:

  • Willingness to complete of have completed desired financial literacy units:

o   CHCEDU005: Identify financial literacy education needs.

o   CHCEDU006: Improve fundamental financial literacy skills.

o   CHCEDU007: Provide group education on consumer credit and debt.

  • Possess an understanding of financial issues in relation to household budgets
  • High level of communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
  • Strong communication and engagement skills including the ability to establish rapport and maintain a positive relationship with clients and service providers.
  • Minimum qualification of Cert III in Community Services or experience in working in a Community Services setting
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment with a strong team focus
  • Demonstrated experience in providing community support, client triage, or case coordination
  • Sound organisational skills, and the ability to manage and prioritise work
  • Proficiency working within Microsoft Office products, with highly developed numerical ad data entry skills
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy, including principles of sharing financial information
