Who is ac.care?

ac.care is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation created by country people for country communities. We began in Mount Gambier in 1986, when local people recognised the need for foster care support for teenagers in the region.

Today, we walk alongside people, families and communities across regional South Australia to help create the foundations for a good life: a safe place to call home, enough money to live on, and strong, positive relationships. We focus on early support and practical help that builds on people’s strengths and supports them to achieve their goals. Our work includes supporting foster carers and children in care, people and families experiencing homelessness, financial hardship or other challenges, supporting healthy relationships, counselling, financial wellbeing and community learning opportunities. We also partner with Aboriginal people and communities to support local priorities, strengths and opportunities.

At ac.care, our work is guided by the following values:

All hands in
Compassion
Adaptability
Relationships
Excellence
