The Buy A Bauble appeal is back this Christmas, giving the Limestone Coast community an opportunity to support local people during the festive season.
For many people, Christmas is a time for gathering around the table, exchanging gifts and creating memories with family and friends. However, rising living costs and other pressures can make those moments more difficult to enjoy for some members of our community.
Each year, community support helps ac.care provide food, gifts and other practical assistance to local people during the festive season. Last year alone, more than 660 people received Christmas-specific support, including around 300 children.
ac.care homelessness and community services senior manager Trish Spark said Buy A Bauble provides a simple way for individuals, businesses and community groups to make a local difference.
“Christmas can place additional pressure on people who are already facing financial challenges, and community support helps ensure we can provide assistance when it’s needed most,” Trish said.
“One of the things that makes the Limestone Coast special is the willingness of people to support one another. Buy A Bauble is a chance for that generosity to have a direct impact close to home.”
Through the appeal, supporters can purchase a decoration that will be added to ac.care’s Community Christmas Tree at Mount Gambier Community Centre, with selected donation levels also recognised through a Virtual Tree online.
Every contribution, large or small, helps grow the impact of the appeal and support local people during the festive season.
