FOUR decades of support for country communities are being recognised today as we unveil our new 40‑year anniversary logo.
Since 1986, we have worked alongside country people to ensure everyone has a safe home, enough money to live on and strong, positive relationships. Our new anniversary logo marks this milestone and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting people who need us today and into the future.
ac.care chief executive Shane Maddocks said the anniversary is an important moment to honour our history while looking ahead with optimism.
“For 40 years, ac.care has stood beside country people through change, challenge and growth. This milestone is a chance to recognise the people, partnerships and progress that have shaped our journey,” Mr Maddocks said.
ac.care was formed in Mount Gambier in 1986 when a small group of local people at the Anglican church identified a gap in care for teenagers unable to live at home and employed a social worker to respond. That community‑driven beginning continues to guide our work today.
Earlier this year, we strengthened our presence in the Limestone Coast by relocating our youth and child out‑of‑home care team, corporate services staff and Mount Gambier Family Relationship Centre to a new central location at 5 Percy Street. The building now proudly features our anniversary logo and updated slogan, “Supporting country people for over 40 years.”

This refreshed logo will appear across our digital platforms, documents, presentations and community materials from now and into the future.
“While the update to our logo is simple, it carries a powerful story,” Mr Maddocks said.
“It reflects the values that continue to guide us – compassion, adaptability, relationships and excellence – and signals our commitment to remain a trusted presence in country communities for decades to come.”
Throughout 2026, we will share stories, events and reflections to celebrate this milestone and acknowledge the many staff, volunteers, partners and community members who have contributed to our impact.
“Whether someone has been connected to ac.care for a few months or many years, they are part of our 40‑year story,” Mr Maddocks said.
“We are proud of our past and inspired for what’s next as we continue working to ensure all country South Australians have a safe home, enough money to live on and strong, positive relationships.”
Our new logo and anniversary materials are now being rolled out across the organisation.
